Ashes interments

Considering an ash interment at Clandon Wood

Many of our burials are of ashes which are interred shortly after a loved one passes away but increasingly interments are of ashes which have been retained at home for a period of time and it is now desired to inter them at Clandon Wood in a dedicated place for remembrance.

Be it a religious, spiritual or secular ash interment service or commemoration the choice is yours.  At Clandon Wood we welcome everyone.

The character and ambience of an ash interment at Clandon Wood is very much created by you and your choice of ceremony. It could include a brass band, a choir, a violinist in the meadow or, particularly if the ashes have been located at home or elsewhere for some time, a straight to plot committal.

If you are burying the ashes of a loved one our contemporary glass pavilion is a perfect setting for you to have both a farewell service as well as a catered gathering should you wish so that the entire funeral can take place at a single location. We allow a minimum of three hours for every ash interment where the pavilion is used to ensure no one ever feels rushed or hurried. We also welcome a graveside service if this is preferred or a simple straight to plot ash interment for when a service may have been held at an alternative location or if the ashes are being interred at a later date after the period of bereavement. For these choices we allow a minimum of one and a half hours.

A key benefit of Clandon Wood is our friendly on-site team which is available seven days a week to help you make your farewell unique to you and relaxed but perfectly organised. We have considerable experience in helping families at what is an extremely sensitive and emotional time to organise the interment of their loved one. Please feel free to get in touch with us and let us take the strain.

Working in close partnership with the many funeral directors located in the vicinity as well as others further afield including London we will ensure all aspects of the interment and any service or commemoration at Clandon Wood run smoothly and to a high standard at a time we never forget is difficult and emotional for the bereaved.

The pavilion has been designed to provide a quality and flexible space for both small and large groups of people and has state of the art audio/visual equipment installed to enable you to present your farewell service in the way you wish.

If you have not chosen a person to lead the burial service or committal and require a member of the clergy, a minister or celebrant we can introduce you to several so that you can choose the most appropriate person.

All ashes are buried rather than scattered so as not to upset the balance of the natural environment and a biodegradable urn is required.

There is on-site parking for up to 100 cars to allow for all sizes of service and our facilities have comfortable WCs, full disabled access and a baby-changing unit. There is a covered motorised buggy available to transport guests who are less mobile and should it decide to rain we can provide umbrellas.

About tea, cake & company

At Clandon Wood we firmly believe that providing an environment for the bereaved is just as important as it is for those who have passed away. In this regard we hold a number of ‘aftercare’ events throughout the year for those left behind.

These include our monthly tea, cake and company drop ins which provide an opportunity for anyone who has been bereaved to be among and talk to others who share the experience of loss.

Held in our beautiful glass pavilion they take place from 10.30am to 1.00pm on the last Sunday of every month.

Simply drop in - whether or not you have a loved one at Clandon Wood, you will always be warmly welcomed with kindness, consideration and company.
